Blu Dot: Assembly Instructions

Layout Design / illustration / design direction

As Blu Dot's business grew, the need for instructions that were more comprehensive and on-brand became more crucial. My role as lead designer was to first design the new format and layout, and then collaborate with engineering in overseeing implementation of the new system across new and existing furniture designs. The new system had to be flexible to accommodate Blu Dot's entire assortment, representative of Blu Dot's level of sophistication, and needed to be simple to create and even simpler to decipher. The resulting assembly instructions were 2-color booklets that were modern, minimal, and utilitarian.

Hardware components were re-designed to print legibly at large and small sizes. For assembly graphics, white fills are used to indicate active pieces while blue graphics are used to highlight actions in the assembly process.
